One of those Steve Redgrave moments

The Olympic Rower Steve Redgrave famously said after one of his Olympic victories that if anyone ever saw him going near a boat again they should shoot him, but he still did!

I know exactly how he felt. In July 2008 I cycled from London to Paris with Christian Aid. Nursing tired legs, sore hands and an aching bum I swore that I would never put myself through such physical torture again. But with time the memory of the pain fades and when my son Richard expressed an interest in doing the ride in 2010 I couldn't resist dusting the bike off and having another go. So we have both just signed up to cycle from London to Paris in July 2010 for Christian Aid. By doing so we hope to raise over £2000 for some of the world's poorest people.

I hope that you will follow my progress as I once again try to return to the racing snake physique that I enjoyed in July 2008. All I know is that with the passage of another two years and with me now heading towards my 50th birthday it ain't going to be easy!
